Kollodis BioSciences, Inc. is specialized in the development and commercialization of the next generation smart biomaterial based on its proprietary mussel adhesive protein technology for health care business.
Mussel adhesive protein (MAP) is a biocompatible, biodegradable, aldehyde-free
adhesive that has generated a great interest recently, but limited
availability and high costs have precluded the widespread use of MAP.
Kollodis has overcome these limitations with its proprietary low-cost
method of recombinant production and high yield, successfully developed
by Professor
Hyung Joon Cha and his coworkers at the POSTECH
Biotech Center.
Kollodis is currently opening a new window to smart biomaterial that can react to the local biochemical environment by bioactive peptides recombinantly incorporated into mussel adhesive protein, a breakthrough in the design
of biomaterial through its ability to engineer biomaterial products with precisely tailored biological functions. This technology enables MAP based biomaterial to be programmed to perform in a manner appropriate to its intended
application under special conditions.
The Company is actively moving toward its proprietary MAPTrix¢â
technology, which delivers high value of the well recognized benefits
and features of mussel adhesive protein as multifunctional smart biomaterial.
MAPTrix¢â can offer the biomaterials that are:
Aqueous-based bioadhesive
Biocompatible and biodegradable
Cost effective and simple manufacturing process
a wide range of bioactivities
