Chronic wounds are wounds that don¡¯t proceed in an orderly fashion to closure, which can l
ead to pain, diminished quality of life, impaired mobility, reduced productivity and in some cases,
amputations. These non-healing wounds represent the fastest growing segment of wound care
because they occur in disease populations that are expanding; in elderly people with diabetes,
arterial or venous disease.
The Company has made efforts to develop functional biomaterials to modify the biochemical environment
of a chronic wound in order to maintain an optimal moisture balance, minimize harmful proteases,
improve cellular proliferation, and accelerate wound healing.
MAPTrix¢â based scaffold can be expected to bring a bio-active wound care solution to the repair of
wound disease. In vitro evaluation is underway and In vivo evaluation of this technology for several
applications is ongoing to go to preclinical study
